I should recognize that there are a number of clubs and dedicated volunteers that maintain their own schedules using TeamUp and by doing so we are able to pull all this info into a single calendar. Hopefully I'm not forgetting anyone but I noticed this crew has started filling in their 2024 schedules:
If you or your club wants to join in the fun let me know and we can make it happen. 2024 Calendars are getting updated and plans being made. So far we've got:
posted and more to come as 2023 seasons come to a close in various parts of the US. For your international travel planning consider:
The International Calendar is here. Want to get better for 2024 but maybe need a little motivation? Check out the 10x12 Challenge site. Feet Up. Carry On. Ryan recently built out a new web page complete with his schedule for the year so I've added those dates into the various calendars.
Utahmototrials.com has implemented their own version of Teamup Calendar here. This is awesome as I can now just link their calendar into the Rockies Regional Calendar.
I see their big 2-day event (Utah State Games) is in April this year which should keep the temps down some. The one I went to was in June and if you aren't acclimated to high heat and thin air Cedar City can wear you down. Even if you can't make the event if you've never been to Cedar City riding area I can highly recommend it - big super sticky rocks and only about 12 miles outside of town. Googly Map Link. Lastly like every trials club in America, Utah has some rules that are probably a little different than your local club. Specifically in Utah you can back up:
On one hand you are thinking 'hey backing up is a 5' on the other hand once you ride out there on some of those big rocks the rules makes some sense. My 2 cents, local rules are designed to support the needs of the local club so I'm cool with it. It's a state law versus federal law thing. Carry on - go ride. Had a couple of requests for training videos for this project and one of my other projects so gave it a go.
The links to the training videos are on the home page but the cool part is the technology used was very interesting to me. The person in the videos is an actor and his voice and movements are all AI generated based on the the script I typed in. The interface is a lot like creating a powerpoint slide deck but with options for actor, voice and music. Why use AI or some other video service? Because I am boring beyond belief on video. Anyway the company I used is Synthesia https://www.synthesia.io/ based in London. While they were a little tedious to put together the end result is about 1000 times better than me on screen. This project uses the free version of the calendaring tool which has some limitations and the license is subject to change at any time. And it was bound to happen sooner or later that a license change would affect this project.
We recently noticed some of the hyperlinks in some of the calendars were missing and tracked it down to a change in the free version license that now limits the number of active links to 50. This is most noticeable the US wide calendar and some of the Regional Calendars where there are a lot of imported links the URL is displayed but not active. "Fixing" this would just take some money and time - both in short supply right now - but we'll re-evaluate at year-end. As a work-around we've started removing generic links for smaller 1-day events that just go to a club's general web site in favor of larger 2-day event's with specific detailed links to flyers etc so that those links will remain active. For those generic 1-day events you can use the 'WebSite Links' in the left hand panel. US Trials:
This blog update has been lagging due to some time out for Covid but for the last 6-8 weeks clubs and individuals have been actively loading their 2022 Schedules. At this time and to the best of our knowledge, all regions are as up-to-date as they can be. If you are US trials road warrior or want to plan a multi-week vacation there is a single combined calendar showing all the US events here. For most it is way too much info and learning how to use the calendar filter features makes it more manageable but it is also interesting to see what events are going on and where each weekend. You can also use the links on the left hand panel to drill down into the various regions and club level details. FIM Trials: The FIM-X-Trial just posted here. And interesting to note that in 2022 there is no Trial E-Cup because the E-bikes will be allowed to compete directly with the gas powered bikes. "A major change is that for the first time in the motorcycle competition world, electric motorcycles will be allowed to compete against two-stroke and four-stroke machines in all classes in a ground-breaking move. Because of this there will be no TrialE Cup." Trials in Idaho is growing - yay!
Treasure Valley Trials and Southern Idaho Trials are currently just using Facebook to communicate - no web pages yet but they've added their events to the Pacific Northwest Regional Calendar - check them out. |
